General questions

The term Botox® is often used loosely when describing non-surgical anti-wrinkle treatments shown on social media and in passing conversation. There are in fact two popular treatments which the majority are referring to, and are the following:

Anti-wrinkle treatment or Botulinum Toxin (Botox®, Azzalure®, Bocouture®) is a prescription only medication which has been used for cosmetic purposes since 1990. When injected into specific facial muscles this causes temporary relaxation and results in a cosmetic effect of skin smoothening.

This is a very popular treatment particularly for upper face relaxation including the frown lines, forehead lines and crow’s feet. Anti-wrinkle treatments can also be used in other areas such as the underarms to reduce excessive sweating, relaxation of the masseter muscles to reduce teeth grinding during sleep, and to create a smoother neck often referred to as the ‘Nefertiti Neck Lift’.

Dermal Fillers are different to this as made from Hyaluronic Acid and available in a range of different ‘gel-like’ thicknesses.  When injected into specific areas of the face this product is able to restore shape, create volume and improve skin hydration. Areas typically treated include the cheeks, lips, nose to mouth lines, tear trough, chin, jaw line etc.

The popularity in Dermal Filler treatments has grown exponentially within the last few years since becoming more affordable, and signified over social media as the game changing treatment for celebrity icons such as The Kardashians, Kylie Jenner, and Angelina Jolie.

Just like an artist requires the correct brush, canvas, and vision to create a masterpiece, so too does the professional who treats your face.

Our faces are three-dimensional structures requiring aesthetic golden ratios such as symmetry, the horizontal ‘rule of equal facial thirds’ (upper, middle and lower face), and the vertical ‘rule of facial fifths’. The science and art of combining such principles will not only balance, but accentuate facial features from any desired profile.

Artistic Facial Profiling is this unique skill of combining these scientific principles of beauty with artistry to sculpt a visually balanced and attractive face.

CM London Clinic apply Fibonacci’s golden ratio principles alongside his own signature techniques to create this masterpiece. This can be in the form of the most popular packages (please refer to ‘non-surgical aesthetics’ tab on our homepage), or a completely bespoke package where the entire face at all angles is considered.

All artistic packages begin with a full facial assessment, followed by an agreed bespoke plan and treatments creating the most balanced version of you. This is a skill that has been acquired by CM London Clinic through years of training, practice, and an artistic eye to detail.

We pride our work on discussing your face in much detail explaining what will suit you, areas to treat, treatment options and to answer any questions you have. Please feel free to contact CM London Clinic with any questions/concerns either via email (info@cmlondonclinic.com) or by phone on 020 8616 5920.

Our self-confidence, friends, colleagues and social media may be the probing factor to exploring aesthetic treatments and this can all be very overwhelming at first. Many people will not know what treatments they desire and this is where CM London Clinic are happy to help.

Please feel free to contact CM London Clinic via social media, email or book a consultation to discuss your concerns.

The majority of clientele who either book a consultation or walk through the door will at some point always anticipate this. This apprehension is completely understandable especially for those exploring non-surgical aesthetic options for the first time.

Our treatment ethic at CM London is one of subtlety and to enhance. The aim is never to ‘build Rome’ in a single day, but rather agree on an aesthetic plan and build gradually into a subtle yet noticeably enhanced version of you. Our goal is for you to look as well as feel good about your face and body with the upmost confidence.

On the day of meeting or prior, treatment quantities and volumes will be discussed for achieving a natural yet aesthetic look. Clients requesting larger quantities of products than recommended may be refused at the discretion of CM London Clinic.

Not at all! We can personally vouch for the majority and say that men also want to look their best and feel confident.

Anti-wrinkle, Dermal Filler, skin tightening, fat dissolving treatments etc are catered to both males and females, especially as we have witnessed a huge rise in male interest for such treatments over the past decade.

Male aesthetics was once a taboo subject as the non-surgical aesthetics market began specifically catering to female faces only. The old stigmas and fears were that men would almost become too feminised and lose their masculine touch with anti-wrinkle and/or dermal filler treatments.

We now live in an era where we appreciate that not one size fits all with the advances in aesthetic artistry and techniques. At CM London Clinic we are more than well versed in the differences between male vs. female facial and body ratios, and the outcomes most desired. We have bespoke packages catered to male clients desiring Dermal Fillers such as our masculinisation package, which focuses on creating chiselled and masculine angles of the cheeks and jawline. Please enquire for more details.

Non-surgical treatments do have rare potential risks which can be minimised with correct and specialised techniques. Please enquire if you have any questions.

Minor risks of such treatments are rare and include minor swelling, redness and bruising at the site of treatment(s). The most significant potential risk is that of a vascular occlusion or blockage of veins/arteries, which if not spotted and managed early, can develop into a more serious complication of skin necrosis. At CM London Clinic we take this very seriously and so are strictly trained in the protocols for identifying and managing such complications immediately.

Our refined signature techniques have been practiced and developed on thousands of clientele in order to minimise potential risks, and we ensure that you are always in safe hands.

All products used by CM London Clinic are FDA approved and completely safe for human use.

Allergies to the non-surgical treatments we offer are very rare and side effects are usually at the site of injection as mentioned above.

If you do not fall into the following list below, you are eligible for treatments.

  • Pregnant or breast-feeding women.
  • Taking Anticoagulants, Aspirin, Vitamin E, Chloroquine, Calcium Channel Blockers.

Dermal Fillers are made of Hyaluronic Acid which is already naturally occurring in the body and so incorporates into the body’s skin tissue easily.

No. No evidence is available to suggest such treatments are safe for the use in pregnant or breastfeeding women. Therefore, these can only be used to treat once pregnancy/breastfeeding has finished.

The legal age for such treatments is 18 years of age and over and ID may be requested on the day of a consultation or treatment.

Upper treatment age limit is defined up to the age of 65 years old, and any treatment recommendations above this age would be at the discretion of CM London Clinic, so long as the candidate in question was medically suitable with no underlying medical conditions.  Benefits of treatments would also be made on the basis of a full facial assessment.

There is no true age to have such non-surgical aesthetic treatments. So long as you are over 18 years of age, medically and aesthetically suitable for such treatments you are eligible. This can either be ascertained prior to meeting or on the day will a full assessment.

Every face and body will differ in term of structure, musculature and skin quality.

Someone who has anti-wrinkle and/or Dermal Filler treatments before wrinkles or lines become deep set will be preventing these from progressing. Likewise, if one were to have treatments once the wrinkles or lines had become deep/strong may require more treatment episodes, and possibly a stronger dose to achieve optimal results.

Post Treatment Questions

Other than light swelling and/or bruising most individuals are fine to return to work immediately.

However, due to the nature of unpredictable swelling/bruising please allow for settling time with some procedures and best to plan ahead accordingly prior to any important events like weddings, business presentations etc.

Treated areas do require settling time to see the full results.

Here are some highly recommended post treatment advice tips:

  • Avoid topical products- avoid makeup/lipstick to the areas treated for at least 24 hours. Also discontinue use of Retin A for at least 2 days post treatment.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise- any physical activity should be avoided for at least 24 -48 hours post treatment. This includes weight training, running, Pilates and yoga.
  • Avoid heat- as the treatments take time to settle, it is important to avoid any activity for 24-48 hours post treatment which raises your blood pressure. This includes saunas, steam baths, steam rooms, hot yoga etc. You are more than welcome to ask if unsure.
  • Elevate your head and avoid lying down flat for at least 3 to 4 hours post treatment- this reduces the chances and/or recovery from swelling/bruising by preventing pooling of blood.
  • Ice- icing before, during and after treatment can help reduce the swelling and bruising. Never apply ice directly to a specific area but use a thin paper towel as a barrier do so.
  • Arnica- Arnica Montana (available over the counter at most chemists) is a homeopathic remedy to heal bruising. Please follow guidance on the packaging and this is available as a cream, gel and tablets.
  • Do not massage (unless otherwise advised) or touch areas treated- this will prevent the product from migrating to unwanted areas.
  • Avoid facial treatments- avoid treatments such as facials, microdermabrasion, chemical peels, micro needling for at least 7 days to guarantee products to not migrate and/or irritate skin sensitivity.

Avoid some medications- for at least 3-4 days post treatment avoid aspirin and ibuprofen. If pain relief is required then Paracetamol is best taken.

A follow-up review is optional 2 weeks after your treatment. You are more than welcome to book this for any concerns, questions or further treatments you have require. Further treatments and ‘touch ups’ may incur a further charge at our discretion and this will be explained on the day of reviewing beforehand.

At CM London Clinic, we pride ourselves on honesty and our warm clientele relationships. This means that we are always available to answer any questions and/or concerns at any point throughout your aesthetics journey.

Expectations and outcomes of treatment plans are discussed in full detail in the consultation prior to undergoing any treatments.

All clients have the option of a post treatment review after 2 weeks to ensure after care advice has been followed (above), and questions and concerns answered. This ensures that each and every client always feels they are in trusted hands when achieving the desired look. We also provide contact details so that we can be contacted with any concerns.

For cases where someone may not be completely satisfied with their results, we are more than happy to discuss and arrange reviews where necessary.

It is recommended that you read all information on this site regarding the treatment(s) you are interested in and contact us beforehand if you have any questions. You may be requested to send in pictures beforehand which will allow time to make recommendations and agree on an aesthetic plan.

We kindly request that you please ensure that you plan for treatment well in advance of any important events such as interviews, weddings, holidays, exercise classes etc. This ensures that enough time is available for any potential swelling and/or review visits to be made. We also highly recommended avoiding wearing makeup on the day of treatment and for 24 hours post treatment in order to minimise risk of skin infection.

24 hours prior to treatment it is also highly advised to:

  • Avoid certain blood thinning medications such as aspirin and/or ibuprofen.
  • Stop consuming any alcohol, gingko biloba, ginseng, flax oil, cod liver fish oil, Vitamin A and E, and other essential fatty acids.

Strict adherence to this guidance will reduce the risk or bruising and/or bleeding on the day of treatment.

Yes, we are more than happy to offer treatments on the same day.

All non-surgical treatment(s) require a full medical assessment either before meeting or on the day prior to treatment(s). Where possible, it is advised that you send in all relevant information beforehand such as questions, concerns, pictures, and whether you are considering treatment(s) on the day of meeting. Treatment Day Questions

On arrival you will be greeted and asked to kindly fill out your patient information. You will then have a full consultation to discuss any further information (including anything sent in to us prior), concerns and treatment options.

If you are happy to proceed, before and after treatment pictures will then be taken on the day for legal patient record documentation. Photos will only be shared on social media and teaching platforms with your signed permission/consent as part of GDPR regulations.

After the treatment(s), critical after care advice will be provided which must be strictly adhered to (discussed later) to optimise results and healing. Full payment must be made on the day of treatment only, and any deposits/booking fees will be deducted accordingly.

Every treatment(s) is tailored to each individual face/body and every client experience is valuable to us. A typical appointment will consist of a full consultation, treatment(s) and post treatment advice. Anti-wrinkle treatments typically take around 15-20 minutes to perform and Dermal Fillers can range from 30-90 minutes depending on the number of treatment areas involved. If you may be considering additional treatment areas on the day, please let us know beforehand if possible.

This process will also include taking before/after pictures and payments made on the day.

Treatment times can occasionally and unintentionally overrun. We fully respect clientele time and trust in us and so apologise in advance if this does happen. Additionally, we also strongly consider patient safety first and foremost, and will do our best to ensure that all clients are seen to promptly.

Pain is a subjective matter as some clients experience no pain at all and the majority will feel a minimal amount of discomfort. We can reassure you that we only use fine needles to minimise discomfort, and all Dermal Filler products contain anaesthetic agents such as Lidocaine. For some advanced treatments, we directly inject Lidocaine into the skin in order to create as much comfort during the treatment as possible.

As these treatments are non-invasive, the most concerning element is often the knowledge of needle trauma to the skin. Needle treatments are not comfortable by definition, however local anaesthetic numbing cream or anaesthetic injections may be used prior to treatments in order to further minimise pain, and treatment times are relatively short. Some advanced treatments such as the cheeks, tear tough, jawline etc are performed using a blunt micro cannula device which further minimises pain as well as swelling and/or bruising.

All medicinal compounds have the potential risk of side effects. In the case of anti-wrinkle and Dermal Filler treatments this is rare and minimal. A full medical assessment will determine potential risks which will be explained in full detail and any questions answered before treatments.

As mentioned above, local skin side effects can occur from treatments at the site of injection(s) and include redness, soreness, light swelling and bruising. These are only temporary and healing can be sped up with the correct adherence to aftercare advice provided on the day of treatment.

Anti-wrinkle treatments typically take 7 to 14 days to show full results.

Dermal Filler treatment results are instant. Due to the nature of light swelling/bruising which may occur on the day of treatment, the best results are seen typically 2 weeks after treatment once all areas have fully settled down.

Skin Booster results can vary anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks to begin showing results. For skin booster regimens with more complex regimens, true results are seen once the entire package has been completed.

Fat Dissolving treatment results begins to show after at least 2 to 3 consecutive sessions. Results will also depend on other factors such as size and severity of area treated. Some areas may often require further treatment sessions in order to see results.

This varies between individuals due to differences in metabolism, lifestyle and skin type.

Commonly known factors to be aware of which may considerably reduce the duration of treatment results include:

  • Exercise
  • Smoking
  • Alcohol consumption
  • Frequent flying

Please enquire to find out the average duration for the treatment(s) you have in mind.

All payments are taken on the day of treatment. We will require an initial £50 booking fee for every online and telephone booking, which will then be deducted from the treatment total on the day.

Cash, all major credit and debit cards are accepted.

Yes, we do. All finance packages are split over a maximum of up to 3 months only. Please enquire to discuss further.
